We are excited to announce that we now offer yellow fever vaccination at our travel clinic in Gateway Chemist. This essential vaccine is crucial for individuals travelling to regions where yellow fever is prevalent.
Yellow fever is a serious viral disease, transmitted through the bite of infected mosquitoes, it causes severe illness and even death in some cases. It primarily affects areas in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa and South America.
Yellow fever vaccine is recommended if:
- You are travelling to an area where yellow fever is found
- You need a yellow fever certificate to prove you have been vaccinated
Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent the disease and it provides long-term protection against the virus. The vaccine stimulates your immune system to produce antibodies that fight off the yellow fever if exposed. But even if you have been vaccinated, it is important to prevent insect bites as mosquitoes can also spread other serious illnesses.
This vaccine is safe for individuals above the age of 9 months. However, specific guidelines may vary depending on the risk of yellow fever exposure and individual circumstances.
Some countries require proof of yellow fever vaccination for entry. This is known as an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) which we will be able to issue. You must check the requirement of your destination country in advance to avoid any issues during your travel.
